Putting trays, boxes and baskets to work

A tray turns loose items into one tidy group, such as remote controls and a candle on a coffee table or perfume and jewellery on a dresser. Malaysian Oak and cork are warm to the touch and quiet when things are set down, while steel and aluminium wipe clean easily in a kitchen or bathroom.

Baskets suit things you reach for often, such as a throw beside the sofa or toys in a bedroom. Keep seagrass and jute off damp floors, as natural fibres absorb moisture and can turn mouldy in the rainy season. At 48 x 30 cm, the basket with a handle is easy to carry from room to room.

Lidded boxes and jars keep dust off small things on open shelves, and a Ø8 cm wooden hook by the door holds keys, a bag or a cap.
